About Deanna

Deanna Frye is full time art professor at Trinity Valley Community College, where she teaches courses including Art Appreciation and Art History. Guided by the philosophy of “practice what you teach,” she maintains an active studio practice as a professional artist. Deanna has participated in group and solo exhibitions in several states, worked internationally, and creates large scale murals. Her artistic style is often inspired by mid-century design, the natural world, and the expressive potential of the formal elements of art. Deanna brings her passion for creativity into every environment she inhabits—classroom, studio, and community.

She holds a Master of Arts in Art Education, with an emphasis in painting, from the New Hampshire Institute of Art, and a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Painting and Art Education from the University of North Texas. Before joining the faculty at TVCC, Deanna worked as a teaching artist in secondary art education. During that time, she led multiple student groups on art-focused study abroad programs throughout Europe, fostering global cultural awareness and a deeper understanding of art history.

My art often focuses on patterns and repetition as related to paths followed through life, which mimics repetitions and cycles found in the blooms of a flower. I hope to paint works whose shapes, colors, and textures attract from afar then drawing the viewer near for a richer experience with intricate details,
